Positive Signs Under Lights at Sydney Motorsport Park
Sydney Motorsport Park delivered a weekend of firsts for Robbie Farr Motorsport.
It was Robbie’s first time racing at SMP, his first time competing under lights and his first opportunity to drive a TA2 Camaro in wet conditions. Despite the weekend ending earlier than planned, the team came away encouraged by the pace shown across several completely new challenges.
Strong start under lights
Friday began with qualifying under wet conditions, where Robbie placed the #7 Camaro inside the top 10 in P9.
That result gave the team a solid platform heading into the opening two races under lights. Robbie went on to finish seventh in Race 1 and sixth in Race 2, producing two consistent results during his first competitive laps around the Sydney circuit.
The results were particularly encouraging given the limited track knowledge available to both Robbie and the team before the weekend began and the wet conditions.
Each session brought noticeable progress as Robbie became more familiar with the circuit, while the crew continued refining the car around the unique characteristics of Sydney Motorsport Park.
Another new challenge in the wet
Saturday presented an entirely different test, with dry conditions arriving for qualifying adding another layer to an already unfamiliar race weekend. Robbie again qualified inside the top 10 and secured P9 on the starting grid for Race 3.
Achieving two top-10 qualifying results across both dry and wet conditions was a strong indication of the progress being made by the team.
Unfortunately, Race 3 lasted less than a lap.
Robbie was hit by another car while under full speed on the opening lap, with the #7 sustaining significant damage. The extent of the damage meant the car could not continue and the team was forced to withdraw from the remaining races of the weekend. We were also incredibly lucky that the car didn't catch fire with a pierced fuel tank.
It was a disappointing conclusion after such a promising beginning, particularly with valuable championship points still available across the final two races.
Plenty of positives to take forward
Although the weekend ended prematurely, there were plenty of positive signs.
Across Robbie’s first visit to SMP, the team demonstrated competitive pace in dry conditions, under lights and in the wet. Two top-10 qualifying performances, followed by sixth and seventh-place finishes on Friday, showed that the car and driver combination was capable of adapting quickly to a challenging new circuit.
For a small operation powered largely by family, friends and a determined group of supporters, the consistency achieved so far this season remains something the entire team is incredibly proud of.
Every event continues to demand a tremendous amount of work away from the circuit. The results being produced are a reflection of the commitment shown by everyone involved, from preparing the car between rounds to working through each session at the track.
The race to repair the #7
Attention now turns to repairing the Camaro before the next round at Queensland Raceway from 14 to 16 August.
There is a considerable amount of work ahead, but the team will be doing everything possible to have the car repaired and ready to return to competition on home soil.
To help our partners follow the season more closely, we will be adding a dedicated Championship and Masters points tracker to the Partner Portal. These will be updated after each round so partners can easily monitor Robbie’s position throughout the season. We will send out a quick email when the portal is completely updated.

Thank you to every partner, crew member, family member and supporter who continues to stand behind Robbie Farr Motorsport. Your support allows this small team to keep competing, progressing and producing results against some of the strongest operations in the category.
Now the repair work begins.
