Bathurst - TransAM

What a weekend at Bathurst!

We are home, car has been unloaded, washed and re-loaded to head off to the workshop to be set up for the next round which is QLD Raceway (QR), 1-3 May.  No rest between races at the moment!

The Bathurst 6 Hour weekend marked a strong step forward for our program, with the team settling into a much better rhythm following our first outing at The Bend. The progress in preparation, communication, and execution across the weekend was evident, allowing us to focus more on performance and less on fundamentals.

It’s important to clarify that this event was not part of our regular TA2 championship. Bathurst ran as a Trans Am round, which, while utilizing similar machinery, operates within a slightly different competitive environment. Both Trans Am and TA2 now sit under HCC Distributions, however the Trans Am category has traditionally attracted a very high level of competition.

Originally operated by Gary Rogers Motorsport, a long-standing and highly respected Supercars team with decades of experience at the top level of Australian motorsport, the category has become a platform widely used by Supercars and Super2 teams to develop emerging drivers and provide additional race mileage for established competitors, even more so than TA2.

The Bathurst event in particular drew a strong field, including current Supercars drivers and former Bathurst winners. Many of these drivers have completed thousands of laps around Mount Panorama, backed by full-time professional teams with dedicated engineers, data analysts, and driver coaching support.

In contrast, our program continues to build, supported by a committed group of volunteer crew, many of whom are still developing within the category. When viewed in that context, Robbie’s performance across the weekend was impressive.

To finish within 2.3 second lap times of drivers operating at that level of experience and resource is something we are incredibly proud of, and a strong indicator of the direction the program is heading.

Interestingly Robbie also did his fastest lap of the weekend on Lap 10 in the final race on old tyres! Just shows the more laps you can get around that place the better.

The result was highlighted by a 2nd place finish in the ProAM class, which reflects both Robbie’s adaptability and the team’s continued progress.

Looking ahead, we now turn our focus to Queensland Raceway, which presents probably the strongest field for the entire season with the endurance format attracting additional Supercars drivers as co-drivers. Following this, the calendar transitions into more traditional TA2 rounds, including Sydney Motorsport Park, where we look forward to continuing to build momentum.

We will provide a further update ahead of Queensland Raceway, and as always, we sincerely thank all of our partners for their ongoing support. Without it, this program would not be possible.
