If you were to look at the results from last Saturday nights racing at Maryborough Speedway you would think things went pretty smoothly for the ECP Racing team, but that couldn’t be further from the truth!

After setting quick time, finishing second and first in our heats and winning the dash we qualified to start from pole position, from there you would expect a fairly comfortable night for Robbie and the team.

But, the start of the A Main didn’t go according to plan!

Starting next to fellow WSS competitor David Murcott they both picked up the throttle together and rubbed wheels, before Robbie knew what had happened the ECP Maxim was upside down, eventually coming to a stop along with a number of other competitors.

With a substantial amount of damage the crew began repairing the Maxim in a race against the clock. With a ‘never say die attitude’ and a host of helpers from other teams they managed to get the ECP Maxim back on track and hopeful of a decent finishing position.

This is where the fun began!

Starting from the back of the pack Robbie drove like a man possessed, by the halfway mark he had weaved his way past a number of cars to be in fourth position. Robbie then drove by Kevin Titman and Mark Pholi before setting his sights on race leader David Muir whom he passed with only a handful of laps to go, going on to take a very satisfying win and proving the team can bounce back from adversity.

Next Saturday night the team heads back to Supercheap Archerfield Speedway in our final hit-out before we begin the defence of our World Series Sprintcars Championship.
