ECP Racing Satisfied with First Hit-out for the Season
The East Coast Pipeline Race team and its driver Robbie Farr ventured to North Queensland last weekend for the Mackay Sprintcar Spectacular and although the final result wasn’t up to their expectations the team left the track convinced that their preparation during the off season will pay dividends.
Nick (crew chief Nick Speed) and I were very happy with the way the car performed, the car was a rocket”, exclaimed Robbie.
“We were equal high points after night one which gave us a front row start for the preliminary A main. We settled in second right behind Steven Lines for a number of laps but as we caught lap traffic running side by side for the lead we touched wheels and spun bringing us both to a stop. Unfortunately we had to go to the rear of the field and we managed to race our way back to 8th.” explained Robbie.
The team came back for night two and managed to accumulate enough points in the heat races to qualify from the third starting position in the A main behind Lines and New South Welshman Jeremy Cross.
Whilst making a move towards the front Robbie got taken out by a spinning Cross and got upside down. The team made the necessary repairs, continued racing and managed to salvage a fifth place finish from the rear of the field.
The next race for the team is the Queensland Sprintcar Title at Toowoomba on September 17th, be sure to come down to the race truck and say hi!
East Coast Pipeline would like to take this opportunity to thank all our corporate sponsors for their ongoing support.
