ECPR : Robbie’s Positive Build Up
Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie Farr( Jan  16, 2012 ) - On a night where passing was at a premium, and every car was about the same speed in the 30 lap A-Main event, Robbie Farr’s slashing run from position #17 on the grid to an eventual 9th at the fall of the chequers was pretty damn impressive. With not one car being lapped, the field paced the Speedway City (Adelaide) circuit at near record speed with most teams being around the same speed and very difficult to put a passing move on.

“It was locked down for sure,” agrees Farr, “but we were able to get by a number of cars and break into the top ten. That scored us some Championship points and prevented a result that could have been far worse.”

The night was a challenge for Robbie from the get go. Farr timed the Orrcon Steel / Vermeer / Hi-Tec Oils #7 Maxim in at position #18 from 41 cars in a result that was reasonably solid considering how late his marble draw put him in the sun-soaked session.

“The later the marble you draw and the later you come out to do your qualifying laps, generally the harder it is to time inside the top ten,” Farr explained, “particularly on a hot, sunny and windy day. Qualifying is so brutal and so important in the overall scheme of things that if you get a late marble and you don’t turn it into something positive your chasing your tail all night.”

And whilst Farr wasn’t chasing his tail necessarily he certainly was heading in the same direction as it prior to the A-Main.
“We pulled ourselves out of a hole, no doubt. Making the transfer by running third in the B-Main and then heading out of the pits with 9th place was far better than I thought we’d have at one point.”

Farr now moves into third place, a mere 23 points behind second placed Brooke Tatnell as the WSS competition takes a breather before Wednesday, February 1 at West Australia’s Kalgoorlie Speedway.

This week however is a flurry of major events for the East Coast Pipeline Team with three major events at three major venues in just five days.

Night One for ECPR will see Farr contest the 2012 President’s Cup at Avalon Raceway Lara (Geelong) this Wednesday night January 18, before one night off and then a five hour haul down the road to Borderline Speedway Mt. Gambier for the 2012 Kings Challenge on Friday night January 20.

The team then heads immediately to the two-night $40,000 to win Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway Warrnambool.
“This is the big money time,” smiles Farr, “this is where you can turn your whole season around. I think our form is good and we’ve got good car speed. There’s no reason why we can’t pull of something special over the next few days.”

FARR BACK INTO GOOD FORM

FARR BACK INTO GOOD FORM
Official press release – East Coast Pipeline Racing
January 12, 2012

Robbie Farr has the batteries charged and the East Coast Pipeline Maxim on song as the team heads away from a stout week of competition at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway and into South Australia for this Saturday night’s WSS competition at Speedway City.

“Queensland was a fantastic week for us,” admits Farr, “we won the Wednesday night event, we were leading Friday night’s preliminary when we got taken out by a lapped car and Saturday night for the 50 lap final we ran second to Donny Schatz. Running second to Donny is like winning any other nights, so we’re pleased for the whole team.”

If not for the disappointment of the lapped car incident on the Friday night, the #7 East Coast Pipeline / Orrcon Steel / Hi-Tec Oils Maxim would have finished the week with two wins and a second placing to one of the best drivers in the world.

The whole week at Archerfield there were just some phenomenal drivers there,” admits Robbie, “so to come away with the results that we did is a huge testament to the boys for their efforts. We’re back on track and I’m feeling we have the car again to win races.”

Farr’s form also saw him regain second place overall in the WSS Championship points battle.

This weekend the competition is no less fierce as 42 cars including six Americans contest the tenth round of the 2011/2012 Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars Championship at Adelaide’s Speedway City.

The week after that it gets really busy with four races in five days culminating in the massive $40,000 to win Warrnambool Classic and then a return to Adelaide the following weekend for the 50th Australian Sprintcar Championship.

“This is the time you need to have your act together, and right now I feel that we do. Its an exciting time with all these big races, plus World Series really going off each round,” Farr explains.

Consistent With Room For Improvement

Robbie FarrConsistent With Room For Improvement

After the first three rounds of their WSS defence Robbie Farr and the East Coast Pipeline Racing Team head into the Christmas break as the leading contracted team, a mere 36 points behind current points leader James McFadden.

“Prior to the series starting everyone was talking about the level of competition being at an all time high and this has proven to be the case, said Robbie. We have had good consistent results but you only have to be slightly off your game or have minor problems and you’ll find yourself further back than you want to be.”

“We’ve been putting ourselves in a position to win but haven’t capitalised at this stage and although that’s disappointing If we keep working hard the rewards are just around the corner”.

The team is really looking forward to the crucial WSS Speedweek leg of the series, five nights of racing over seven days beginning in Adelaide on Boxing night.

Prior to the Speedweek series we will have one final hit-out, this weekend at Premier Speedway Warrnambool, the track where the WSS Speedweek finale will be held on January 1st.

If you’re at track be sure to come by the ECP hauler say g’day and check out our great range of merchandise.

Farr Solid in WSS Opener
Tuesday, 29 November 2011 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrCurrent WSS Champion Robbie Farr started his World Series Sprintcar title defence in fine fashion last night at Supercheap Archerfield Speedway with a solid second place finish.

The East Coast Pipeline Racing team driver was consistently at the pointy end of the field throughout the nights racing, setting the second quickest time in time-trials on a drying track, and then racing his way forward from the back of his heats to end up third in points which qualified him for the Silver Shootout.

Robbie then won the Silver Shootout before setting the second fastest time in the Gold Shootout to clinch a front row starting position in the A main.

In the A Main Robbie, James McFadden and Jason Johnson turned on a spectacular show trading positions numerous times for a large and appreciative crowd.

“That was a great race and the reason I love this sport so much”, said Robbie on the podium.

“I was right in the mix and at stages I grabbed the lead. I was racing within myself sitting back watching those two go at it, they were racing real hard and I could see something might have been about to happen”.

“We’re really happy with the consistency we’ve shown this year, now we move on to the second round at Dubbo confident of the race package we have”.

“The guys were great and we had a lot of fun, commented Robbie. They were blown away by the acceleration of the Sprintcar”.

Bouncing Back from Adversity
Wednesday, 16 November 2011 23:53    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrIf you were to look at the results from last Saturday nights racing at Maryborough Speedway you would think things went pretty smoothly for the ECP Racing team, but that couldn’t be further from the truth!

After setting quick time, finishing second and first in our heats and winning the dash we qualified to start from pole position, from there you would expect a fairly comfortable night for Robbie and the team.

But, the start of the A Main didn’t go according to plan!

Starting next to fellow WSS competitor David Murcott they both picked up the throttle together and rubbed wheels, before Robbie knew what had happened the ECP Maxim was upside down, eventually coming to a stop along with a number of other competitors.

With a substantial amount of damage the crew began repairing the Maxim in a race against the clock. With a ‘never say die attitude’ and a host of helpers from other teams they managed to get the ECP Maxim back on track and hopeful of a decent finishing position.

This is where the fun began!

Starting from the back of the pack Robbie drove like a man possessed, by the halfway mark he had weaved his way past a number of cars to be in fourth position. Robbie then drove by Kevin Titman and Mark Pholi before setting his sights on race leader David Muir whom he passed with only a handful of laps to go, going on to take a very satisfying win and proving the team can bounce back from adversity.

Next Saturday night the team heads back to Supercheap Archerfield Speedway in our final hit-out before we begin the defence of our World Series Sprintcars Championship.

Keep posted to our website next Tuesday where we will announce details of some exciting exposure for the ECP Racing team on ONE HD’s RPM show.

Farr Bounces Back to the Winners Circle

Robbie FarrFarr Bounces Back to the Winners Circle

Last Saturday night the ECP Racing team headed back to Sydney Speedway for round 2 of the track championship and after taking the lead early in the race Robbie maintained his position and took the Q7 Maxim to victory lane.

After two 2nd place finishes in the heats Robbie qualified for the top ten draw and after Ian Loudoun picked the number 8 pill we found ourselves starting from position six, probably as good as we could hope for with the format.

Although it looked as though Robbie navigated through lapped traffic with ease and had a comfortable lead for most of the race the night was not without its share of issues.

“We had a gremlin within the motor”, explained Robbie. “Nick worked hard all night to try and eliminate it. It tended to be more of a problem when the track was heavy and the car bogged down so it was nice that the track wasn’t as hooky come feature time”.

“I got a good start and hit the lead fairly early in the race, the car felt good, from then it was a matter of being patient and not getting hung up in lapped traffic”.

Next Saturday night the team heads back to Sydney Speedway where we will be aiming for our third podium in three weeks.

An Interesting Night At The Office
Thursday, 13 October 2011 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrAn interesting night was how Robbie Farr described last Saturday nights visit by he ECPR team to Archerfield Speedway for round 2 of the KRE Engines Sprintcar Series.

Although there was rain earlier in the day the track went off a bit for the teams late time trial draw but despite that we still timed in 8th position.

By virtue of our time trial draw we started from 6th in the heat and on a track that was left narrow due to the rain we finished 5th.

In the second heat disaster struck when the car unexplainably turned right in the middle of the corner, slapping the wall and ending up on it’s side. “It was weird, explained Robbie. I’m not sure what happened, I can only put it down to driver error”.

The crew done a great job to change both the rear and front ends which enabled us to start from nineteenth in the A main.

With his elbows up Robbie drove superbly to finish 3rd in the A main, a good result considering the topsy-turvy night we had.

We are looking forward to this Saturday night when the team heads to Avalon Raceway in Victoria for the $10,000 to win Sprintcar Jackpot meeting, with many of the teams that we will compete against in the upcoming WSS championship and a unique format it should be fun.

Perseverance pays off as we move our way forward
Thursday, 06 October 2011 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrLast Saturday night the East Coast Pipeline race team headed off to Archerfield Speedway for the opening night of the KRE Engines Sprintcar series. Even though we were successful at our previous outing we decided to put a new chassis together mindful of the long season ahead.

The night didn’t start according to plan when the front wing broke during qualifying causing Robbie to pull to the infield with only one lap on the track, qualifying him in 15th position.

Robbie started the two heats from 4th and 5th spot respectively and managed to move his way forward taking victory in both heats.

Starting the dash from 6th place Robbie once again worked his way forward to finish in third spot.

By lap three of the A-Main Robbie had moved into the lead and was never headed, going on to take victory in round 1 of the prestigious Queensland Series.

Despite the victory Robbie felt that with a bit more tweaking the team could get some more speed out of the car and we now look forward to this Saturday night when we head back to Archerfield Speedway for round 2 of the KRE Sprintcar serie

Back To Back Qld Titles for ECPR
Thursday, 22 September 2011 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrBack To Back Qld Titles for ECPR
"No glitches and no drama" was how Robbie Farr described the performance of the East Coast Pipeline Racing teams' successful defence of their Queensland title at Toowoomba Speedway last Saturday night.

Robbie topped the field in time-trials with a blistering lap of 11.846 seconds, more than a tenth of a second quicker than his nearest rival and one of only three cars to break the 12 second barrier.

Courtesy of his quick time he then had to start each of his three heats from the rear of the field where he raced his way forward in each of them to finish with two seconds and a third.

At the completion of the heats the ECPR team found themselves at the top of the points table which qualified them from the front row.

From the start of the A Main Robbie set the pace and in the process set the quickest lap time on lap 21. Robbie ultimately led every lap of the event to claim his second straight Queensland championship.

"The boys done a great job, said Robbie. We had a real solid weekend!"

The East Coast Pipeline Racing Team will next hit the track at Archerfield Speedway on October 1st for round 1 of the KRE Sprintcar series.

ECP Racing Satisfied with First Hit-out for the Season

Robbie FarrECP Racing Satisfied with First Hit-out for the Season

The East Coast Pipeline Race team and its driver Robbie Farr ventured to North Queensland last weekend for the Mackay Sprintcar Spectacular and although the final result wasn’t up to their expectations the team left the track convinced that their preparation during the off season will pay dividends.

Nick (crew chief Nick Speed) and I were very happy with the way the car performed, the car was a rocket”, exclaimed Robbie.

“We were equal high points after night one which gave us a front row start for the preliminary A main. We settled in second right behind Steven Lines for a number of laps but as we caught lap traffic running side by side for the lead we touched wheels and spun bringing us both to a stop. Unfortunately we had to go to the rear of the field and we managed to race our way back to 8th.” explained Robbie.

The team came back for night two and managed to accumulate enough points in the heat races to qualify from the third starting position in the A main behind Lines and New South Welshman Jeremy Cross.

Whilst making a move towards the front Robbie got taken out by a spinning Cross and got upside down. The team made the necessary repairs, continued racing and managed to salvage a fifth place finish from the rear of the field.

The next race for the team is the Queensland Sprintcar Title at Toowoomba on September 17th, be sure to come down to the race truck and say hi!

ECP Racing Well Prepared for Upcoming Season
Wednesday, 17 August 2011 00:00    PDF Print E-mail

Robbie FarrOn the back of a triumphant season that saw the East Coast Pipeline Racing team take their first World Series Sprintcar crown, the team has been busy preparing for the challenges that lie ahead.

Our major focus will be the three big titles which include the defence of our WSS crown, the Australian Sprintcar Championship and the Grand Annual Classic as well as numerous other events which we will participate in.

After our success with WSS we sat down and evaluated our race results. Although we were delighted with our WSS victory we felt like we started the season with too many unknowns,  this we feel was due to being behind the eight ball with the establishment of our new race shop facility and a change of chassis and shock package.

From those discussions we mapped out a plan of action for the 2011-12 season.

That plan included the completion of our race shop facility, a change of chassis and further development of our shock package all of which were implemented successfully prior to the end of last season.

With a good base package to work from we now look forward to the upcoming race season enthusiastically.

During the offseason we have also developed our East Coast Pipeline racing ‘Facebook’ group, so we can post news and information to our teams’ fans whilst on the road. The Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/East-Coast-Pipeline-Racing/243795348987370

Be sure to check back in on our website and Facebook page in the coming weeks as we will be making some major sponsor announcements and we will be unveiling a new paint scheme for our race car and transporter.
