BY anyone’s standards Robbie Farr had a pretty good season behind the wheel of the East Coast Pipelines chariot last summer but being as competitive as ever Farr would like to have done better.

And come the start of the World Series Sprintcars championship in Brisbane in November Farr will mount yet another series campaign to win the coveted season-long championship. He has a burning desire to win the series and is pulling out all stops to make it happen.
The Australian Sprintcar Championship is also on his radar.
“I think we won more feature races than anyone else in the country so we can’t say we had a bad season, but we didn’t win World Series, finishing second again.
“At the Australian title we were disappointed but if you look at the season as a whole it was a successful season…we just didn’t tick all the boxes we would have liked.”
And one of the biggest boxes is the World Series crown.
After being a perennial runner up Farr would dearly love to take the major award from series dominator Brooke Tatnell.
In an attempt to gain a competitive advantage the team has made the decision to change chassis, going from J&Js to Eagles.
“We progressed about as far as we could with the development of the J&J and there has been a restructure in the Eagle company and we think the direction they are heading in is the direction we want to head as a team.”
The team is also continuing development on its engine program that is overseen by KRE.
When asked what their goals would be next season Farr paused.
“It hard to say because we haven’t had an unsuccessful season, but definitely World Series is one we want to tick off the list as a team and I know we have said that for probably the last three or four years.
“We just have to push ourselves a little harder and lift our professionalism and that of the sport.”
Farr said it was going to be an open book as far as his main rivals for the championship went.
“The old me, Brook and Max (Dumesny) thing is probably going to change,” Farr said.
“Jason Johnson will be in his second year with Alan Haynes and Tyler Walker will be at the Titan team while Ryan Farrell will be out on the road for another year and James McFadden comes in with an Australian title under his belt so it’s going to be a hard competition, but an exciting one.”
After not being included in the touring schedule last year the WSS action returns to Tasmania for two rounds in December and Farr is looking for some good results down there.
“Tasmania is a good hunting ground for me, we won the last round down there at Latrobe and we were leading in Hobart with a couple of laps remaining with the top wing broke and we had to pull infield.”
Farr now lives in Western Australia with his partner Sonya and together they recently announced their arrival of their first child – Colton – which has given him an added outlook on life.
And no doubt he will enjoy the WA leg of the series, meaning less interstate travel.
This includes one night each at Kalgoorlie and Manjimup and double headers at Bunbury and the Perth Motorplex.
Farr said it would definitely be good to finish the series off on the west coast and being home a bit more – and spend more time with the latest arrival in the Farr family.
While he might have a softer side now he is a dad, don’t expect Farr to be soft when it comes to World Series Sprintcars – he will be playing for keeps as far as that is concerned.
