Robbie FarrECPR : Farr And Away A Good Season
( Jun  17, 2010 ) - For Robbie Farr and the entire East Coast Pipelines Team the 2009/10 Australian Sprintcar season was a summer filled with highs and lows, but as the statistics show there were definitely more highs.

Farr and the team have just finished off their summer campaign with an outside the top ten result at the Australian Championships held last month at the Northline complex in Darwin. “Yeah we were disappointed with our Australian title result but this team has been around long enough now to know that these weekends can and will happen. We had motor trouble for most of the weekend which really hindered our performance.” He said.

The season though has shown just how good this team is. Farr started in an amazing thirty three A-Mains here in Australia and of those thirty three A-Mains he won almost one third of them, taking out an amazing ten feature wins on the way to an incredible nineteen podium finishes for the year, a remarkable achievement for any Sprintcar team, but for Farr things could have been better.

“We had a terrific start to the year as we won four straight at Parramatta and it set us up to really dominate when we were there which was great” he said this week “but for me the disappointing point of the season was the World Series Sprintcars round at Avalon during Speedweek. We were taken out during the B-Main and I knew our tilt at the WSS crown was probably over there and then. As it turned out it did cost us the championship as WSS is all about consistency and we put ourselves in a bad position that night and we paid the price by not winning the series.”

The ECPR Team competed in every round of the tough WSS as well as all the premier events on the Australian Sprintcar calender including the Warrnambool Classic (Victoria), The Krikke Boys Shootout (Western Australia) and the Sprintcar Masters (South Australia) to name a few. For Farr he has been one of the most successful racers in the elite division of speedway this summer but you can tell by the way he talks there is one thing that is unfinished business, that elusive WSS crown.

To be a part of all this it takes passion, commitment and dedication, but it wouldn’t happen without the support Farr and the team get from their loyal sponsors including Vermeer, Orrcon Steel, Australian Portable Camps, Golden City Trucks Gympie, Quantum Racing Industries, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oils, KRE Racing Engines, Pipeline Plant Hire, Erb Bros Transport, BTB Australia, IOR Energy, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, BCM Motorsports Marketing and Zise Marketing. “A big thanks goes out to all of these fabulous supporters as we couldn’t do this without them. A special thanks goes out to Barry Waldron and his family, Nick Speed and Sean Grealy as without their efforts behind me I couldn’t do what I love to do which is drive Sprintcars and of course all the fans who show up to cheer us on each and every time we race” Farr said.

It’s been a long season and the ECPR team are looking forward to a break as they started their long season in California last August and haven’t really had the chance to stop ever since. Farr is especially looking forward to the chance to stop as he has probably the best reason of all to have a park up from racing for a while. “The break will be good to charge the batteries but I have the birth of my first child coming up so I’m especially looking forward to that as well.”

It may be time away from the track but the plans for next season are already in place for season 2010/11 as it has just been announced that Farr and the ECPR Team will once again compete on the WSS trail, securing their coveted contract for next season. For any more announcements keep returning to the East Coast Pipelines Racing and Robbie Farr websites in the following weeks - see you then.

East Coast Pipeline would like to take this opportunity to thank all our corporate sponsors for their ongoing support.
