Following the completion of the recently contested Australian Sprintcar Championship at Brisbane International Speedway, Archerfield – it can now be confirmed that Australian Sprintcar standout Robbie Farr and the Titan Garages team have parted ways – effective immediately. The Milperra, New South Wales based driver wants to make it clear that the end of a two-year plus relationship with team owner Reeve Kruck, that has seen the team traverse the length and breadth of Australia - was completely amicable. “To quell any rumours floating around, I was not released from the Titan team for someone else to drive the car or was there any argument or disagreement between Reeve or myself ,” said Farr on the phone today on the announcement. Farr was candid in the reasoning for the scaling down of Reeve Kruck’s Australian operations. “One can only admire how much time, effort and money Reeve Kruck has put into not only this team but Australian Sprintcar Racing overall. When you then throw in his commitment to the American Sprintcar scene as well, it’s pretty obvious without a doubt how passionate he is about the sport. With all that in mind, he has made it clear he is not presently enjoying the Australian Speedway climate and if he is not enjoying it he is not going to do it." Word is that Kruck will scale back his Australian racing operations, where it will be primarily an outlet for his children – Drew and Toni Kruck, to participate on a low key and informal basis, whilst his main energies and focus will now be with Oklahoma’s Darryn Pittman and his pursuit for the 2006 World of Outlaws Championship. In relation to Robbie’s future direction in Speedway, it appears several enticing opportunities have already been offered up to the former Australian Sprintcar and Speedcar Champion. “I am already looking at a few options for next season and I am open to any offers or expressions of interest from car owners as well...one door closes and another usually opens up. I also hope to keep my relationship intact with Nick Speed (Farr’s Titan crew chief – also released by Kruck this week). Nick and I have spent two years on building a relationship on the racetrack that we believe delivers results. He has done an excellent job and I hope he can be a part of whatever future opportunity that is presented to me.” One race that Robbie cannot unfortunately compete in is this weekend’s Australian Speedcar Title at Parramatta. “Yes, that’s probably the most disappointing aspect of this parting of ways at this time, as I was really excited about running the midget again this weekend. We will keep our ears to the ground for any future opportunities there too.” One thing is for sure, Australian Speedway is still to see the best of Robbie Farr... |
