Aceways Autogear Racing team drivers Todd Wanless and Robbie Farr are all set to kick off their 2006/07 racing program in Mackay this Friday when they contest the opening night of the Morvale Sprintcar Spectacular at Macs Speedway, the first of fifty plus events on their schedule across the country this season. The two former Australian Sprintcar Champions teamed together with Qld racer Pete Thorley late last season to form what is expected to be one of the most formidable combinations in the country, and with the winner of the A-Feature event on the second night of racing this weekend pocketing a cool $10 000, you can be be rest assured these two team mates will be looking to open their speed account with a victory on Saturday night! "Both Robbie and I are really looking forward to racing in Mackay this weekend" Todd commented today from his office in Brisbane's west. "We've both been in training for some time now over the winter break and we can't think of a better place to start the season than in Mackay against some great competition like Max Dumesny, Danny Reidy, Terry Bracken and of course Mackay's own Dan Morton. Whisper around town earlier this week is that one G. Brazier may even slip into Mackay this weekend and if he does, we'll be ready for him! Dan (Morton) and Lindsay (Hawkins) have done a great job in putting this race together and my wife Robyn is originally from the Mackay area so it'll be great to get up there and race in front of some family as well. The boys on the crew have got the cars all ready to go and we'll be looking to bring some big trophies back home to Brisbane and of course, that big cheque as well!" he added with a grin. The Morvale Sprintcar Spectacular, presented by The Morvale Group in conjunction with Macs Speedway Mackay, will be conducted over two nights of competition on September 8/9 2006, with racing action from 6:30pm each night. In addition to the two night’s of racing, there will be a fireworks display, plenty of giveaways and popular local band XSNRG will entertain racers and fans alike at the huge After Party. Todd and Robbie will be on hand after the races to sign autographs for fans, be sure to drop by the Aceways Autogear Racing transporter to pick yourself up some cards and posters and to say hi to the team. |
