Mixed Night For The Aceways Autogear Team

It was a mixed night of results for the Aceways Autogear Racing team at Cairns Motor Speedway on September 16 with Robbie Farr finishing fourth in the A-Main event and team mate Todd Wanless finishing down the line in ninth position after earlier battling for a top five spot.

The team was quietly confident of a strong showing at the Ireland's Of Cairns Sprintcar Classic after both cars ran inside the top five in Mackay the previous weekend, but minor motor problems hampered Todd's run through the heat races and Robbie's string of third place finishes in his qualifiers resulted in a third row start for the former National Champion and plenty of work still to do on a deceptively fast but narrow racetrack.

"Both Robbie and I felt we had more to offer on the weekend but I guess the cards just didn't fall our way either night up there." Todd explained upon his return to Brisbane. "Robbie ran well in the heats but he didn't get a couple of the lucky breaks you need sometimes and I had some small problems with the motor which the boys got sorted on the first night and I wasn't quite as patient as I needed to be in the Feature and lost a couple of spots which is disappointing. We'll take what we can out of the weekend and re-group as a team ahead of our next lot of races in a few weeks time." he added.

Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) hosts the opening round of the 2006/07 Comp Cams Series on September 30 and the Aceways Autogear Racing team cars of Robbie Farr and Pete Thorley will be amongst the thirty plus nominations expected on the night. Both Thorley, who will contest the entire twelve rounds of the Series this season, and Farr have race victories in Comp Cams races and will be seeking another win in the opening Round in two weeks.
