Aceways Autogear Racing team drivers Robbie Farr and Pete Thorley have opened the 2006/07 Brisbane International Speedway season in the best possible way, finishing first and second in top six qualifiers Dash before repeating the effort in the twenty-five lap A-Main event in front of a huge and appreciative crowd.

Although Farr had already competed in two events in North Qld heading into the September 30 opener in Brisbane, it was Thorley's first competitive run of the season and he made it clear that he intends to be one of the drivers to watch within the Qld sprintcar ranks this coming season. Both Farr and Thorley carried considerable form into the event, Pete a Comp Cams round winner last season while Farr's record since joining the Aceways team is remarkable. From his past seven events at BIS, Robbie has six podium finishes including four wins!

From the front row, the two team mates battled for the Feature race lead through turns one and two before Robbie got the upper hand down the back stretch, a position he held throughout the race despite running in heavy traffic through the middle to late stages of the race and a late caution that bunched the field back together for the dash to the chequers.

Todd Wanless, the team's third driver who was unable to compete on the night due to business commitments, was kept abreast throughout the evening of the team's progress. "A fantastic result for the team" was Todd's response to the news. "All the boys in the team have been working hard chasing results like this for us and for Robbie and Pete to run 1-2 in the Feature in front of so many fans is great both for the team and for our sponsors like MHF and Lucas Oils who have given us tremendous support already this season."

The Aceways Autogear Racing team return to Brisbane International Speedway on October 7, the opening round of the 2006/07 Comp Cams Series for sprintcars.
