Aceways Autogear Racing team drivers Todd Wanless and Robbie Farr were on the pace at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on October 28, with Robbie debuting his new Cool chassis and setting fast time in the field of twenty-five drivers on hand for the JR Turk Electrical Data & Supplies Sprintcar Invitational and Todd qualifying eighth fastest and winning the second of the two Dashes to set up a front row start in the A-Main. With the completion of Farr's new car during the week, the matching red Cool cars unloaded at Parramatta for the first night of a hectic month of racing that will see the two race against some of the best Australian and US drivers in events in NSW, SA, WA and Victoria. With fast time in the bag, Farr then finished second in both is Heat race and the first Dash while Wanless ran third in his Heat and won his Dash from Max Dumesny and Trevor Green, placing both team cars on the first two rows for the Feature event. At the green, Wanless was unfortunately moved high in the first corner and slipped back to fourth during the early running until a mid-race red flag incident brought the race to a stop. By the time the chequers flew, Farr had moved into third and Wanless was placed sixth, both drivers then being awarded second and fifth respectively when initial race winner Dumesny was excluded for a technical infringement. In Qld, Pete Thorley continued his good start to the season at Round 2 of the Comp Cams Series, bringing his ABC Auto Group #51 Maxim home in eighth place in the twenty-five lap Feature event, collecting valuable points towards his run for the Series Championship this season. Pete had earlier qualified the car eighth fastest in a field of thirty-two and ran sixth and fourth in his Heat races. The next events for the three car Aceways Autogear Racing team are scheduled for November 4, with Todd and Robbie competing in the Australian Sprintcar Masters at Speedway City in Adelaide while Pete races in Round 3 of the 2006/07 Comp Cams Series at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway, part of the JR Turk Monster Truck Extravaganza program of events on the night. |
