After taking out the Nanovick Tribute race in Western Australia the good form has continued. The Krikke Boys race was also added to the impressive win list for this season and on top of that Robbie also picked up $500 for his donuts in the expression session after the main event, before heading east for the Easter trail.

Taking out the Krikke Boys race for the fourth time is one thing, but what the race stands for means more to Robbie than just another win. “ I put the prestige of winning this event up there with any other of the major events in this country but more importantly for what its about, that is what really matters to me”

Now have you ever seen a sprintcar doing donuts? Well most likely you have but probably not like the expression session after the Krikke Boys race, Robbie and a few other drivers had the crowd screaming for more. Robbie took the cash for the best donuts after something like twenty or more consecutive spins on the spot. A slightly dizzy driver had to hold his helmet up for a while afterwards as he gained his bearings again. “ It was unbelievable the G Forces”

Round one of the Easter trail and the good results kept coming, after the heats were over Robbie was the top point scorer for the main event. Without wasting any time at the second attempt to get the race under way Robbie grab the lead and set sail into clean air, lap three and the cation light was on. At the restart the V5 Valvoline car made a pass on Reidy to zero in on the Q36 tail tank, lap eight and into traffic, Dumesny took over the lead leaving Robbie the chaser. Two laps later Robbie had taken the spot back, but Max wasn’t finished yet and took command once more another three laps, then on lap sixteen the lead changed once more in Robbie’s favour. This time the Titan Q36 Maxim wasn’t letting go of the lead and went on to finish 2.9 seconds clear of his rival.

Mount Gambier was the next stop for round 2, with 53 sprintcar on hand it was going to be a tough job to get a good start in the in the main event. Yet again Robbie made good progress in his two heat races to finish equal highest points with Max Dumesny, Max had the faster time in the heat races giving him the right to choose the front row start position for the A Main. The V5 driver elected to start from the outside of the front row, at the green the race was on for turn one honours, this time Robbie had to settle for the second spot. The order was to stay that way with the gap never going out further than 1.7 seconds and at times Robbie closed that down to ¾ of second. Despite a last lap lung for the lead Robbie came up short by a few car lengths. With the second place finish Robbie still held the Overall Easter Trail points lead by 18 points.

Roll on round three at Sungold Stadium (Premier Speedway) the very next night, the battle for the win and the major share of the overall prize Poole was on between Robbie and the V5 Valvoline machine. The first heat of the night for Robbie, heat two was going to be an interesting one, starting from P5 and Max coming out of P9, Robbie knew if he could finish in front of his main rival that would be a good start for the nights points. Quickly moving into second place Robbie set after the leader looking for that 1st place when on lap 4 the Black maxim’s right rear tire went down and the officials sent him to the centre. After a good run in his second heat to second place Robbie gained enough points to just make it into the back of the B Main. With a greasy track due to light rain this was going to be a big effort to get one of the two transfer spots needed. By lap fifteen Robbie had worked his way forward enough to take P1 on the last lap and secure a berth in the final.

A Main time, at the drop of the green flag Robbie tried to make forward progress but the track conditions after the light rain had most competitors running at a very fast pace which slowed Robbie’s progress. Robbie only moved up a couple of places until lap twenty two before moving into P11, once into fresh air at lap twenty three Robbie set his quickest lap of the race 11.301 and the fastest lap in the second part of the race before quickly moving the Q36 Titan car into P9 as the laps ran out.
Coming home strong after a disappointing earlier heat was pleasing for Robbie although he dropped to third place in the overall the team still picked up $1500 for there troubles.

“Although we didn’t win tonight we are very happy with our results over the trail, we had the speed and good setups each night, there wasn’t much between the top drivers and I feel we were as good as anyone. It was unfortunate to loose the tyre in our earlier heat tonight but we can’t complain. The Titan Team and I have had a great run lately thanks to Nick & Steve, even with tonight’s result we still have the confidence to be able to go on and take more top results before the season comes to a close”

Next stop for Robbie and the Titan team will be at Speedway City this Saturday for the Sprintcar Showdown, then it will back to the home base in Queensland for the Queensland Title on the 8th & 9th of April.
