The next couple of weeks will see Robbie Farr cross Bass Straight for events in Tasmania for World Series Sprintcars then the following weekend Robbie will travel to New Zealand to run in the Powerbuilt Sprintcar Classic. Robbie is no stranger to the New Zealand soil in speedcars and sprintcars and when he got an invitation to return to drive one of the local cars, well he didn’t have to be asked twice. Joining Robbie for this trip is Max Dumesny, Robbie and Max will be up against New Zealand’s finest and possibly a few Americans. “I sure am pleased to have been invited back to race in New Zealand, I have had great success in the speedcars and I would like to back that up with a win in the Powerbuilt Classic” The event is at Powerbuilt Speedway Ruapuna Park on Saturday the 17th of December just out side of Christchurch, for more information on the event or results go to www.powerbuiltspeedway.co.nz But before heading to New Zealand Robbie and the Titian Team will be at the Latrobe Speedway in Tasmania for rounds 6 and 7 of the World Series Sprintcar Championship. The World Series Sprintcar trail has had a few ups and down for Robbie so far, although he is in 3rd place in the Series with five rounds down there is still plenty of time to climb back up the points table and close the gap. The ups so far have been rounds 1- Archerfield, round 3 – Toowoomba, and round 4 at Speedway City, these three events have netted Robbie a second place finish in the main events. Good finishes in the heats made sure Robbie was in the dashes each night, the time trials have been down a little except round 4 at Speedway City where Robbie took out fast time. The downs came at round 2 – Rockhampton and round 5 at Avalon, although Robbie netted 8th place finish at Rockhampton in the main this was a little disappointing but important points were gained. The Avalon round started of with a misfire in the engine in time trials due to faulty spark plug, Robbie went on to say” I was happy with the time trial considering the problem we had and the track conditions. When we fixed the problem the car was strong” Starting from P5 the Titian Q36 Maxam was heading in the right direction, towards the front. After picking up third place Robbie moved in on the tail of the V5 car. Lap sixteen and Robbie set his fastest lap of the race 12.265 seconds which was also the second fastest in the Main. Well things went wrong on the next lap, Dumesny in the V5 car had Robbie hard on his heals as they went into the lap traffic, Max went to the bottom and Robbie went to the top, the man in the middle moved up track a little and just enough contact was made to send Robbie into fence and out of the race. “It was disappointing to go out that way but it was a racing incident, just one of those things that happen” the good news is that Robbie and the Titian Team are in a good position on the point’s table, they have had some good results in the heats and most of the Main events plus have made it into the dash each night.
