Last weekend the 2004 Australian Sprintcar Champion Robbie Farr was back in the Titan Garages and Carports Team Q21 Eagle and after three nights of hard fought racing action, the “action man” took out the overall series victory in the 2004 Easter Trail.

At the completion of the three nights racing Robbie had scored a second place, followed by a victory and fourth placing in the three A Mains and was declared the overall winner with a points tally of 791.5 and giving Robbie back to back Easter Trail Overall victories.(2003)

Night one was held on Good Friday at the Victorian Avalon Raceway venue. With the Titan machine running well, Robbie ended his heat races with a win and a second placing. Going into the A Main as the highest point scorer Robbie started from position 1 in the final. While Robbie initially won the first start, it was John Vogels who took control when the race finally got started. Early in the race Vogels had a 1/2 lose in turn 2, Robbie almost spun trying to miss him and when he got back onto the gas, the “action man” did a monster wheelie down the back straight. This allowed Max Dumesny to power by and into second while Vogels was out a few laps after tangling with a lap car giving the lead to Dumesny and second placing to Robbie. Max got a better run through the traffic to take out the win with Robbie holding onto second but the “Action Man” had the points lead going onto night two.

The following night, and round two was held at the Borderline Speedway at Mt Gambier. There were showers earlier in the day but by late afternoon it was ok for the nights racing program. Robbie in the Titan Team machine finished third in heat 1 and after coming out of position 6 in heat 8, he took out the victory. Robbie was again highest in points and chose the outside to start the A Main. There were a few early race restarts but Robbie took control and had a good run through the traffic going on to score the main event victory without any real challenge throughout the race.

Night three of the 2004 Easter Trail was held at the ultra fast Warrnambool track. Robbie’s first heat saw him starting back in position 7 but moved forward to greet the checker in third position. Then in heat 5, Robbie again moved forward to finish in second. After starting in position 3 in the A Main, the track quickly developed into a bit of a one lane deal. Robbie just had to run the cushion to keep moving forward. On lap nine while moving in on the back of the #17 Luch Monte car Robbie moved down off the racing line in turns three and four for a pass and found the track a bit too slick sending him into a spin, after a quick 360 he had dropped back to sixth place. Robbie worked his way back to fourth place by lap nineteen and held that position till the end of the race. Robbie new a top four or five placing would give him the overall points score for the weekend so there was no need to over do things trying to get a top three place.

“It was a real good, consistent weekend. We were as quick or even quicker than anyone else. I probably should have won at Warrnambool it was just driver error!”

This Saturday night Robbie with is once again be driving the Titan Garages and Carports #21 Eagle, at Toowoomba.
