Robbie Farr certainly finished 2002 off in sensational fashion with the Action Man picking up his third World Series Sprintcar’s victory on Monday night at the fast Avalon Speedway. Robbie’s Toyota Geniune Parts Avenger was quick all night, right from setting second fastest time in the opening time trails to taking the checker at the end of the A Main, Robbie was running hot. The Krikke motorsports team with Robbie at the steering wheel of the #2 Avenger have definitely been one of the top combinations all through the 2002/3 WSS tour so far and the Avalon meeting proved that Robbie wants that WSS crown. With another strong 26 car field Robbie went out twentieth and with a brilliant 12.533 sec lap ended up setting second quickest time. In his opening heat race Robbie came from position 7 ending up third at the end of heat 2 while in his next heat again coming from the tail of the field in position nine, the Action Man powered his way forward to finish in fourth position to end the heats second on points behind Brooke Tatnell. With light rain falling the Pole Shootout wasn’t run so after the B Main it was straight into the A Main. Brooke won the start with Robbie following the Tatnell Maxim. Around mid race, lapped traffic played into Robbie’s favour allowing Robbie drawing alongside Tatnell down the back straight running wheel to wheel in a drag race with Robbie winning the battle into turn 3 and taking control of the race. Although there were many stoppages in the closing stages, Robbie and the Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger was able to hold on and take win number 3 in the prestigious WSS. “After a not so good night at Mt Gambier, it was very good to bounce back with a win here at Avalon. I’m looking forward to Warrnambool it’s a good high speed race track. We could have won the Classic there last year so I’m really looking forward to a great result there.” Robbie and Krikke Motorsports thank their sponsor for making it possible to be running strongly so far this season, thanks to Toyota Genuine parts, Bunbury Toyota, Quick Race Parts, Avenger Chassis, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline, Central Districts Smash Repairs, A1 Sign Shop and Fortron |
