It certainly wasn’t a great weekend for Robbie Farr and the Krikke Motorsports team with Robbie crashing out of the $50,000 to win Sprintcar International held last weekend at the Parramatta City Raceway. It didn’t start off too well for Robbie on the opening Friday night. Rain had been falling on the Sydney track late in the afternoon and as they were out wheel packing, rain hit again. The ultra slippery track saw Robbie crashing into a push car breaking the #2 Avenger’s front wing mount. With rain delaying the start by two hours, the Krikke Motorsports team was able to weld up the bracket in time for Robbie to set 20th best time (12.712) in the strong 48 car field. In heat 4 Robbie started in position 5 and finished in position 5 and after coming out of position 4 in the B Main, the “action man” took out a superb victory giving him a start in the preliminary A Main. Due to rain, the race was stopped with only four laps completed and was re run the next night. With Robbie starting in position 17, he continued forward progress and finished in a brilliant 9th position in the preliminary race. Next on his Saturday nights program was heat one with Robbie in the Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Bunbury Toyota, Krikke Motorsports, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline Avenger scoring a brilliant victory. That win gave Robbie a start in the first Dash race and after starting from position 3 he dropped two placings and ended up in fifth position. After a drama filled weekend Robbie had qualified in the important A Main. Robbie was quickly on the gas from his starting position nine but early in the 40-lap race, his PWR Radiators Avenger hooked a rut in turn 3 and flipped over hitting the tyre wall. Robbie was OK but the car was badly damaged and out of the race. “It was a bit of a fight all weekend. We got the car running pretty good a couple of times. We weren’t too bad in the A Main but I hit a rut and the car took off. It was just one of those things. It was probably a top five car, I don’t think we had a car that could win, just one of those nights.” Speedsports Media Greg Boscato |
