| Tough Weekend For Robbie And The Krikke Motorsports Team | ||||

Three nights of racing didn’t see the results that Robbie Farr was looking for at the Kings Challenge night and the two nights of the Classic. Both events started in the best possible way giving Robbie in the Krikke Motorsport Avenger a positive direction for each show. The Kings Challenge saw Robbie take home second place behind a charging Donny Schatz after a battle that saw the race lead see saw backswords and forwards between these two drivers in the second part of the race. Robbie thought he might have been able to hold of Schatz but as the track went away he found that the low line was the only place he could run to keep some good speed. The night started of with Robbie setting fast time in the time trials; this was to give him starting position eleven for both heats. Heat one became a battle with Robbie mixed up in a couple of incidents before the race finally got under way, but a determined Robbie clawed his way to finish second in the heat. The next heat once again saw Robbie in the Krikke Motorsports, Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger forge his way through to take the win which was enough for him to be top points scorer. Next up was the dash and once again the Team Krikke entry took out the win giving Robbie the front row start in the Main event. At the start Robbie took the lead and was to stay there until the rampaging Schatz arrived on the scene, these two drivers swapping the lead many times before Schatz opened a gap and took the win, Robbie was still please to have had a good finish with a 2nd place. Night one of the Classic was to be a challenge for all concerned with the forty plus degree heat, with hot laps over the time trials were next up and Robbie once again topping the time sheets with a lap of 10.938. Starting positions for the W2 car with Robbie at the wheel would be heat 1 from P12 and heat 7 out of P 11. The team was very pleased with the progress made through the heats to pick up a third place in heat 1 and a fine fourth placing in heat seven. With the heats over for night one the next event on the card was the Australian / America Challenge Cup, again Robbie was at the top of the points table with 103 points giving him the front row start. At the drop of the green flag the Krikke Motorsports Avenger was of on a mission opening up a big gap over the rest of the field, then on lap 6 Robbie changed from his racing line to make a pass on the lap traffic when the W2Avenger hit a rut in turn one that sent the car into roll and creating enough damage to put Robbie out of the event for the night. Sunday night and Robbie had lost valuable points from the Main event of the previous night leaving sitting in sixth place on the points table but still in contention to move up the table for a good start in the Classic’s Main event if he could snare another couple of good results in the heats. P9 in heat 11 and P10 for heat 16 were to be Robbie’s starting spots. Heat 11and Robbie was on the move yet again, lap three and he was up to position 7 when a spinning Ken Sartori left Robbie with nowhere to go and contact was made with Robbie having yet another roll over. Due to the way the car landed, the impact was enough to send a shooting pain up Robbie’s back which then lead to a trip to the local hospital for x-ray’s and thorough check over. Unfortunately this was to be the end of the Robbie Farr and Krikke Motorsport’s Classic campaign for year 2003. Even after the all the heat racing was completed Robbie still had enough points to have started from P11 in the main event. Robbie was still in good sprits even though some pain. “Its a disappointing way to end up especially as we were going forward all the time but lets hope that all the bad luck is over and we get on with the job of trying to take out the Australian Title this weekend at Warrnambool” Robbie Farr and the Krikke Motorsports Team thank all the sponsor, Bunbury Toyota Toyota Genuine Parts Quick Race Parts Avenger Chassis PWR - Paul Wheel Radiators Revolution Racegear Valvoline QA 1 Signs Fortron Central Districts Smash Repairs Mercure Hotel Parramatta Terry Shields Toyota |
