Robbie Farr returned to his home track in Sydney, the Parramatta City Raceway last Saturday night and racing against a top quality field, the “Action Man” ended up with a superb sixth placing in the 30 lap sprintcar A Main. Robbie who is the current PCR track champion certainly hasn’t had the best of luck at his home track, Parramatta this season and racing the #2 Krikke Motorsports PWR Radiators Avenger, Robbie was looking for a good result after his disappointing Classic and Title meetings. He was supposed to run last week but decided to sit out the night giving his back another week to recover and with a couple of big shows in Adelaide and WA still to run to get race fit was the number one priority for Robbie and the team. A storm hit the Parramatta track late in the afternoon with rain playing havoc with the early track conditions. Fortunately it was only brief and the racing could start but the early round of heats saw the track very greasy and made it difficult to make forward progress. Robbie started heat 4 from seventh position and only made up one position and ended up finishing sixth while in heat 7 Robbie came out of position two, took control on lap one and continued to score a brilliant win. The six lap dash saw the Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Avenger Chassis, Bunbury Toyota, Krikke Motorsports, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline Avenger starting out of position eight and with the team trying something different ended up sixth at the checker. Next was the 30 lap A Main and with Robbie drawing highest on handicap started the race from position 15. As usual Robbie was quickly on the gas and moved up through the field but after hitting a rut lost many positions and had to forge his way forward again. After loosing a brake line towards the end of the main, Robbie had left his run a little too late and finished with a very creditable sixth position. “It wasn’t too bad tonight. We drew highest in the handicap and had to come from 15 in the feature. I actually had a good run early and got passed Brooke, Max, Trevor and all those guys. Then I hit a rut 1/2 way through the race, got off line and they got me back. I guess I left my run too late, got a bit loose at the end and lost my brakes after a brake line blew off. We passed a fair few cars but didn’t pass enough.” This Saturday night Robbie and the Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger head to Adelaide for the George Tatnell Sprintcar Cup and with Robbie winning all three Speedway City round of the WSS another victory in Adelaide would be a great way to finish his summer’s racing program in South Australia. |
