The annual Coca Cola Michael Nanovich King of Wings was held last Saturday night at the Quit Motorplex Kwinana and Robbie Farr racing his familiar #2 Krikke Motorsports Avenger finished a sensational second placing to American ace Paul McMahan in the 25 lap Feature. With the summer coming to a close the King of Wings is one of the final big races of the season and its a race that Robbie and the entire Krikke team wanted to win. Timetrails started the evening off and in a 26 car field Robbie ended up setting 6th quick time with a superb 14.320 sec lap. It was in heat three that Robbie first lineup against the quality field assembled and after starting back in seventh position and sharing the back row with McMahan Robbie followed the American home and finished second in his opening heat race. Heat 6 Robbie came from position four but by the checker he had past the three top West Aussies in front and took out a brilliant victory. In the top six Pole Shuffle Robbie dropped down a position and had to start the 25 lap A Main from position 5. With top guns Jeff Leisk, Ryan Farrell, Max Dumesny and Paul McMahan in front, Robbie in the Krikke Motorsports, Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Avenger Chassis, Bunbury Toyota, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline Avenger “stood on the gas” and moved up the field. The #2 Avenger was set up a little too loose but with ten laps to run a red light stoppage saw the team tighten up the car giving Robbie a car that was much better suited to the quick Kwinina track. With McMahan out in front, Robbie did his best to peg back his lead but had to settle for second position . “We again ran second to Paul McMahan, but the car was a lot better after we tighten it up after the red. But its this weekend that is most important to our team and I’m planning to reverse the finishing order. This weekend Robbie and the PWR Radiators, Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger will be racing at the fast Bunbury speedway and a victory is on the game plan for the annual Krikke Boys race. |
