Robbie Farr was certainly “standin on the gas” over Easter with the “Action Man” taking a sensational victory in the annual three night Easter Trail.

With his racing commitments in the Toyota Genuine Parts, PWR, Krikke Motorsports Avenger now over, Robbie took the opportunity to return to his former mount, the #56 EWT Auto Dismantlers Avenger and race in the Easter trail for Peter Johnson and his family. Robbie quickly settled back into the car that he won the 2001/2 PCR Track Championship and was fast over all three nights, with him brilliantly winning the final evening at Premier Speedway Warrnambool.

The trail started on Good Friday at Avalon Raceway and with Robbie coming out of position 3 in his opening heat, the #56 Avenger was right on the pace from the green. Robbie ended the third heat with a superb victory, serving notice that he would be a force in the annual end of season series. Heat five saw Robbie ending up with a second placing after forging his way forward from position 8. The victory and second placing gave him starting position number one in the first nights A Main Feature, after leading the early laps comfortably the right rear birdcage bearing locked solid forcing Robbie out. But it still was a very impressive opening night for Robbie and the EWT Team.

Saturday night it was off to South Australia and the brilliant Borderline Speedway at Mt Gambier for round 2 of the Easter trail. With another very strong line up of sprintcars on hand Robbie ended the heats with a second and third placing and was moving forward in both races. His brilliant heat results once again gave Robbie a front row starting position in the A Main Feature sharing it with Trevor Green. Unfortunately the A Main was cancelled due the track being hit by very thick fog. It was the first time that Robbie had a race cancelled due to fog!

With Mt Gambier’s A Main cancelled it was off to the final night at Premier Speedway. The fast and open Warrnambool track really suited Robbie and the EWT Avenger. Heat 2 saw “the Action Man” starting from position 3 but like all his heat races over the Easter trail Robbie simply “put the pedal to the metal” and powered into the lead, taking out a great victory. Heat six again saw the EWT machine moving forward to end up with a fine fourth placing. As with the previous two nights, Robbie was starting the all important A Main Feature on the front row, coming out of position 1. Robbie got the jump and lead the early laps, It was a hard and rough track but a little mistake saw Stephen Bell taking control and led Robbie for a number of laps. Fortunately Bell got loose which allowed Robbie to regain the lead and go on to score a brilliant win, giving him enough points to win the overall Easter trail points score and pick up a handy $5000 bonus for the EWT team. It was a hard three nights racing with over 35 sprintcars packing into the pits at all three tracks.

“It was good to be back in the EWT car. It’s a great car but it was a shame the fog came in so we couldn’t run the race at Mt Gambier. Its certainly great to win the series.”

Next weekend Robbie with be racing at the Brisbane International Speedway in Queensland for the Australian Sprintcar Open and will be in the Titan Garages sprintcar.
