Hi again, and now its that time of the year I hate, the winter off season. It’s certainly been one of my best season’s ever but the past few months that word RAIN has definitely caused me and others, a few drama’s with a couple of the big shows washed out. The final few months of this past summer were again successful for me. Adelaide has been a good stamping ground for me, I was able to win all three WSS rounds held there and at the annual George Tatnell Sprintcar Cup and after leading for almost 20 laps, I got caught up behind a lapped car and lost the lead. You just can’t give any driver an inch and that’s all the American ace Paul McMahan needed and that slight miscalculation was all he required to get by and take out the win. A week latter at Kwinana in the Michael Nanovich King of Wings I was again second to McMahan. After a red light stoppage Our Krikke Motorsports Avenger was running better, the guys tightened up the car and I was able to peg back his lead but still had to settle for the runner up spot. But the following week, Bunbury was the place where the team really wanted me to win, the Krikke Boys Memorial Race. Well I was able to reverse the positions with McMahan and take out a very emotional victory for the team. To win the race for the Krikke family was fantastic. I set fast time, was top points scorer and then to take out the win for the boys, well this was definitely one of the highlights of the year. Then my final races back at Kwinana and Adelaide for the Krikke team were washed out, so I set about preparing for the Easter trail back with my PCR championship winning car and Peter Johnson’s EWT Auto Dismantlers team. We were leading night one at Avalon but had a bearing failure in the birdcage, which forced me out. The following night I was looking good at Mt Gambier, well until fog caused the feature to be cancelled. Gee I’ve never had a raced canned because of fog before! The final night at Warrnambool I thought I may have lost it after I made a mistake while leading and Stephen Bell took the lead but fortunately for me he did the same thing which allowed me to regain it and take out the win and the overall series victory. I was set to run in Brisbane in the Australian Open but that word rain again caused the meeting to be postponed to mid May and hopefully by the time this is out the race had been run and won. Interesting I am racing the car I battled with all during the WSS campaign, the Titan Garages Eagle and I hope we can both end our season’s with a win. Well’s that’s the racing done for season, racing for the Krikke team has certainly been sensational, Shane and the team certainly gave me a fantastic car all summer. The only big disappointment was when we raced at Parramatta. We just didn’t find our form at my home track but everywhere else I think we were fast and to finish second to Daryn Pittman in the WSS was great. I must thank everyone who has helped me this past season. Shane and the guys, it was great racing in the team, we really clicked and I think the results showed that. Plus I must also thank Peter Johnson and the EWT guys for again letting me race the car in the Easter Trail and to the sponsors Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Avenger Chassis, Bunbury Toyota, Krikke Motorsports, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, QA1 shocks, Mercure Hotel Parramatta and Valvoline also a thanks to Greg Boscato of Speedsport Media, and to anyone I’ve missed thank you for making this such a fantastic summer for me. Well, its now the winter off season and back to work full time and no racing. Its certainly going to be a long off season. That’s racin Robbie |
