| Summer Time, Sprintcar Time! | ||||

Hi all after a long winter it time to go back to racing and it’s going to be another hectic summer. It seems to be ages since I’ve sat in a sprintcar, this past winter I tried to stay away from speedway issues and catch up with a few friends. Last year I was off racing in the US as part of my prize in winning the Parramatta track championship but this time I was busy working with brother Colin in our Action Sports Corporate Wear business. In the summer I’m away racing so in the off season I really have to get stuck into the business. It has been a good break away from racing, giving me time to refresh. I’ve played lots of squash and did a bit of running, trying to get in shape for this hectic summer. Now its sprintcar racing time and I’ll be racing at the first two Parramatta shows. Reeve Kruck has offered me a drive in his Titan Garages car, the same car I used in Queensland at the end of last season. Then following the two PCR shows I’m travelling across to New Zealand spending 3 or 4 days helping a local guy sort out his sprintcar. Then I think I’ve got the next weekend off before flying across to Perth and set about having my first race meeting at Kwinana in the Krikke Motorsports Avenger. The guys are building up a new Avenger for this season, with the car I used last year as our spare car. With the World Series Sprintcar starting in November, it’s going to be full on racing from there. Full credit must go to Wade (Aunger) he certainly has worked hard in the off season and its exciting news about the TV coverage. The news of free to air TV has brought sprintcars up to the next level. Its going to be very tough racing in the World Series Sprintcars, Max and Brooke are going to be very fast and hard to beat. Brooke didn’t have the best of times last year but will return back to Australia full of confidence after the great year he’s had in the US. Jason Johnson from the States is racing in the Disbury car and he’s a very good racer. I expect him to win a couple of rounds of the WSS so it’s really going to be a very hard series. Everyone asks what are my goals for the season, well that’s simple win the World Series Sprintcars and the National title. I’m excited that the Title is at Bunbury cause that’s our (Krikke’s) home track and wouldn’t Shane be happy if the Krikke Motorsports Avenger bags the title at Bunbury. As far as the World of Outlaws meeting at Parramatta, at present the team is looking at options with the motor program about running the meeting but at this stage nothing is final. I must thank my sponsors and the teams for this season, Krikke Motorsports, Bunbury Toyota, Toyota Genuine Parts, Revolution Racegear, Quick Race Parts, PWR Radiators, Avenger Chassis, QA1 Shocks, Fortron, Terry Shields Toyota, Mercure Hotel Parramatta, Valvoline, plus we have a couple more which we hope will come on board soon. A special thanks to Greg Boscato of Speedsport Media who will be working with me doing my media releases again this season. Well is time to go racing, so if you are at the track come down and say hi, See you all soon, Robbie |
