Robbie Farr has started his 2002/3 Summer campaign in the Krikke Motorsports Avenger with a brilliant second placing last night at the Bunbury City Speedway. With the prestigious World Series Sprintcars just about to start, Robbie and the Krikke Motorsports team were at the Bunbury round of the Car Craft WA Sprintcar Series to get in some valuable seat time. Robbie found the WA#2 Avenger fast straight out of the box and improved with each race. With 19 cars entered Robbie set fourth quick time with a 12.720sec lap. He made forward progress all night after started from position 8 in heat 2, the Action Man showed his “standin on the gas” style to the enthusiastic West Aussie fans and finished in a sensational 4th position. In his second heat, Robbie coming from position 5 was again on the charge to be in second placing at the checker. In the Dash race Robbie started second in the quality field and forged his way to the first victory for the Farr/Krikke duo. The all important Feature race saw Robbie starting in position 10 but as usual Robbie wasn’t going to stay around in that position for long and forged his way up to the head of the quality WA sprintcar pack. With around ten laps remaining Robbie took control of the race and was looking good for the victory. Racing in a brand new team, he decided to take thing easily not wanting to crash the brand new race car. That’s what cost Robbie the victory and on the final lap Robbie lost the lead and had to settle for second placing. “We achieved what we had set out to do and gave the new car a good shake down for the big races. From a drivers point of view I was too tentative and that cost me the race. I didn’t want to bend it on my first night out but I consider the car was good enough to win. We improved all night and we all got on very well.” Robbie’s next outing in the Krikke Motorsports Avenger will be this Saturday night at Speedway City in Adelaide. |
