Last Saturday night Robbie Farr and the Krikke Motorsports team served notice that they are taking the 2002/3 World Series Sprintcars tournament very seriously with “the Action Man” scoring a brilliant victory in round four of the 2002/3 series held at Adelaide. Going into the Adelaide round Robbie and his Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger has been one of the most consistent runners in the rounds held so far and although Adelaide wasn't a happy hunting ground for the team at the recent Adelaide Sprintcar Masters, they were hopeful for a good result last Saturday. As with the normal WSS format time trails started the evening of after the hot lap sessions with Robbie setting the third quickest time with a 12.104 sec lap. Coming out of position eight in heat three Robbie moved up two positions to finish sixth in what was a hard race to make a pass. In his second heat race, again the “Action Man” started down in the pack in position seven, and although there were a number of stoppages, the incident filled heat made his job a little easier, with Robbie ending up with a good second position at the checker. The good results saw Robbie ended up second highest in points going into the pole shuffle, with Robbie moving up into pole position for the A Main after defeating both Brooke Tatnell then Trevor Green to claim that number one starting position in the A Main feature. It took three attempts to get the A Main under way but at each race start Robbie and the Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger won the battle and led into turn 1. There were many yellows during the race but the race was all Robbie's with him just pulling away from the field. Lapped traffic didn't provide him with any problems with Robbie going onto score his first WSS victory of the season. “It was good to turn it around from our last start in Adelaide. We wanted to get that first WSS victory out of the way, now we can concentrate on winning the series. The car was great and no one was going to touch us in the feature.” This Saturday night Robbie and the Krikke Motorsports, Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Avenger Chassis, Bunbury Toyota, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline team head to Avalon for the next round of the WSS. Avalon has been one of Robbie's best performed tracks with him picking up his Australian Speedcar Title as well as many sprintcar victories. With the WSS crown in their sights, Robbie and the Krikke Motorsports have only one thing on their mind and that is win the round and increase the points tally. Greg Boscato Speedsports Media |
