Three sprintcar meetings in three nights, with Robbie and the Krikke Motorsports team again being stand out performers on the WSS tour. The Action Man has certainly been providing the race fans with Action, with Robbie taking out a sensational victory at Speedway City, a superb second placing at Murray Bridge and a disappointing seventh position at Mt Gambier Boxing Day night and the WSS tour returned to Adelaide and this place must be Robbie’s new favourite race track. It was just over a month since Robbie scored his first WSS victory of the summer at Speedway City and he was back and again winning his second WSS round at the South Australian venue. Timetrails saw Robbie setting second best time with a superb 12.154 lap in the strong 23 car field. With him starting seventh in both his heat races, Robbie in the Toyota Genuine Parts Avenger ended up with a second and third placing giving him highest points going into the Pole Shootout. Robbie continued his brilliant form winning the pole shootout before going on to score another sensational A Main victory. Then it was off to Riverview Speedway at Murray Bridge for round 8 of the WSS tournament. Another good 23 car field was on hand for the nights racing with the “Action man” setting third quick time with a great lap of 12.271sec. The heats saw Robbie bag two brilliant second positions giving him another high points going into the Pole Shootout. The Krikke Motorsports Avenger with Robbie behind the wheel was still in blistering form and he continued his winning style defeating Brooke Tatnell to sit in pole position for the all important A Main. Tatnell won the start and lead for the opening 25 or so laps. Robbie decided to move up track and looked to pay off with Robbie battling with Tatnell for the lead but unfortunately had to settle for second and finished behind Tatnell at the checker. It was a brilliant race for Robbie with the #2 Avenger sprintcar working extremely well on the Riverview race track. Next stop was Mt Gambier’s WSS round and with another strong 25 car field. It was Robbie who set quick time with a superb lap time of 11.617sec. In fact it was the first time that Robbie had ever set quickest time in a WSS round. In his opening heat Robbie was penalized three positions for passing on the in field and finished eight in heat 1. Heat five saw Robbie “standin on the gas” moving up four position to finish third in the heat race. In the Pole Shoot out Robbie dropped down a position and was forced to start in A Main from position six. Early in the A Main Robbie bicycled and was lucky not to flip over but badly damaged the rear end of the Avenger sprintcar. With the wrong rear wheel fitted Robbie continued on in the race in what was a very bent race car, going on to salvage seventh placing in the main. “I am really happy with our car speed just, Mt Gambier was a little disappointing. We had the wrong wheel offset but we need to pick up as many points as we can. We are off to Avalon and we ran there earlier this month so we have a good idea on how to set up the car.” After nine WSS rounds Robbie racing the Krikke Motorsports, Toyota Genuine Parts, Quick Race Parts, Bunbury Toyota, PWR Radiators, Revolution Racegear, Valvoline, Avenger is holding down a strong second position in the points tally with 6793 trailing Pittman who has 7253 points. The Next stop for the team will be at Avalon before moving on to Premier Speedway at Warrnambool, and with every point being so vital expect to see Robbie and the team giving it 100% as they chase their first WSS crown. Quick update, The Avalon venue proved to good to Robbie and the team, taking out yet another win in round 10 of the WSS Championship. ( More on this event and Premier soon) |
