Last night Robbie Farr again showed why he is the 2001 NSW, Parramatta and Sprintcar Association of NSW Champion with another sensational feature race victory at Sprintcar City, the Parramatta City Raceway.

With rain delaying the opening meeting of the season by a week, last nights Driver to the World of Outlaws Premiership Series Rd 1 saw the “Action Man” continuing where he left off last year, taking control of the 30 lap Sprintcar A Main, just past half race distance going onto score a superb win over arch rival Max Dumesny with Queenslander Andrew Schereule home in third position.

The new colours of the EWT Auto Dismantlers/ Standox Paints/Central Districts Smash/Truckmate/Valvoline #56 Avenger looked great out on the quick Parramatta track as the current Parramatta Sprintcar Track Champion, the “Action Man” opened the meeting off as the flag car. But by Robbie’s usual standards, he was relatively quiet in the early part of the meeting. Being in the first heat, he quickly returned back into the pits to line up for the first 10 lap encounter of the 2001/2 Sprintcar year. Coming out of position three, Robbie dropped a couple of placing early in the race before forging his way back into third at the checker. In his second 10 lapper coming out of position 9, Robbie moved up four spots to finish in fifth placing.

His next race was the important event of the evening, the 30 lap Premiership A Main and has been the case over the past few season’s, Robbie starting from position 13 had all his main opposition ahead of him. By lap 2, the #56 Avenger with Robbie at the wheel was in sixth position and by lap six was running fourth with his main opposition Dumesny four positions further behind. At one the restarts Farr was simply brilliant passing both Drew Kruck and Brad Heywood in one sensational move entering turn one, before setting off the catch race leader Andrew Scheuerle. By lap 13, he was Scheuerle’s tailtank with the pair running side by side for a number of laps, with Robbie taking control on the front straightaway. Robbie had moved from the lowline onto the highside of the track which looked to suit the Avenger. From there on it was Robbie’s race, Dumesny did move into second and at one stage caught Robbie but the EWT machine held its ground with Robbie taking out the first feature of the season.

“We didn’t get a handle on the car during the heats. We got aggressive on the set up for the feature and it paid off. It was track position, as I had been running on the bottom and it looked to be going off. I tried the top and that was the best place for us and that’s where I stayed. I am totally happy. We started last season with a win and hopefully tonight is a sign of things to come!” remarked Robbie after the race.

Robbie will be back racing next Saturday night in round two of the prestigious Parramatta Driver to the World of Outlaws Premiership Series.
